  3. Employee Wellness Program ‘Threepeats’ Platinum Award

Post date:

In March, Sun Health was recognized by the Healthy Arizona Worksite Program (HAWP) for achieving the Platinum Level of excellence in worksite and community wellness.

“The platinum award is the HAWP’s highest award and it’s the third year in a row that we’ve earned it, so we’re very excited,” said Rhonda Zonoozi, exercise physiologist and co-coordinator of Sun Health’s employee wellness program. Yelitza Silva, director of Total Compensation for Sun Health, is the other coordinator.

The Healthy Arizona Worksite Award recognizes employers who positively affect the health and well-being of their employees, their families and their community by implementing comprehensive worksite and community wellness strategies.

The Platinum Level award honors businesses making an impact both inside and outside the organization by addressing one or more of the health challenges impacting communities across the state.

Sun Health’s annual Diabetes Expo, which began in 2014 and most recently drew 200 community members, was cited on Sun Health’s nomination as an example of the organization’s commitment to community wellness.

“Well-run wellness programs have been shown to improve overall health and reduce health care costs, not just for employees of health care organizations but also for the communities they serve,” Yelitza said.

Rhonda and Yelitza also credit Sun Health’s wellness champions – employees who promote wellness at their individual Sun Health worksites – for helping the organization reach the platinum plateau.

The Platinum Award will be presented to Sun Health on May 1 at Healthy Arizona Worksite’s annual awards event.
