Tips for a Happier, Healthier HolidayWhile we all want to feel jolly during the holiday season, sometimes the indulgent foods, busy schedules, family, and expenses can cause a lot of extra pressure and stress. The holidays can be a busy time and can negatively affect your health if you are not careful.

According to the American Psychological Association, nearly 70 percent of all Americans report feeling highly stressed during the weeks between Thanksgiving and the New Year. And this stress can lead to a variety of health concerns, including poor dietary decisions, high blood pressure, sleep disorders, migraines, angina, heart disease, heart attacks and more.

You can give yourself a gift during the holiday season by following a few simple tips.

  1. Experts recommend that people set aside time for themselves every day to make sure the body is getting the rest and attention it needs. You can’t do everything.
  2. Learning to say “no” to some activities will keep stress to a minimum.
  3. Sticking to regular exercise routines and making healthy modifications to recipes will also help keep nutrition goals on track.

The Sun Health Center for Health & Wellbeing offers individual consultations with a
registered dietitian and certified diabetic educator, exercise physiologist and health
coach who are able to help guide you through the holidays in a positive and healthy
way.

The Center also has several classes scheduled this month aimed at battling holiday
stress and nutrition concerns head-on. Call (623) 455-5741 today to reserve your seat!
