At Sun Health, supporting healthier lives and a healthier community is at the heart of who we are. This fall, we’re proud to once again support the American Heart Association (AHA) and rally as a community around heart health through 2026 Torch Week and the West Valley Heart Walk.
The Heart Walk brings thousands of people across the West Valley to raise awareness, support lifesaving research and help expand access to CPR education and training. This year’s three-mile walk will take place Saturday, November 14, at Goodyear Civic Square, with an estimated 8,000 walkers expected to participate. Sun Health is proud to serve as the event’s Live Fierce Take Action sponsor.
Leading up to walk day, Sun Health will also participate in the AHA’s Torch Journey from Monday, October 12 through Friday, October 23. The torch will travel across our communities and teams to show that Sun Health Has Heart.

There are many ways to show your support:
- Walk with Sun Health on Saturday, November 14 at Goodyear Civic Square to honor those fighting and/or who have survived heart disease and stroke
- Make a tax-deductible donation in support of the American Heart Association (click here to get started)
- Spread the word and encourage friends, family and colleagues to get involved
- Follow along on social media during Torch Week as the torch makes its way across Sun Health
Every contribution can help change statistics like this: nine out of 10 people who experience cardiac arrest outside a hospital do not survive. Through lifesaving education and greater awareness, we can help more people understand the importance of immediate CPR, which can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.
“When it comes to heart health, it’s never too late to take action,” says West Valley Heart Walk Executive Leadership Team Member and VP of Marketing and Communications at Sun Health, Megan Word. “A donation can help advance lifesaving research, education can empower someone to save a life and encourage important conversations about cardiovascular disease, and every step we take together can help build a healthier, stronger West Valley.”
