Respiratory Conditions
Respiratory conditions involve the airways and other structures of the lung. Some of the most common respiratory conditions include Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma. Both cause swelling in the airways that make it hard to breathe. At Sun Health Wellness, we provide guidance and support to navigate these two conditions, among other breathing illnesses.
COPD is a progressive lung disease that has two forms: Chronic bronchitis, which involves long term cough with mucus, and Emphysema, which involves damage to the lungs over time. Symptoms often worsen over time and can hinder an individual’s ability to do basic daily activities such as walking, cooking or bathing. Asthma causes attacks of wheezing and tightness in the chest often triggered an allergic reaction or by physical activity, oftentimes producing extra mucus. The symptoms of asthma vary depending on the individual and can flare up at any time, making it difficult to breathe.
While there is currently no cure for COPD, asthma or other breathing conditions, treatments and lifestyle changes can help slow the progression and reduce complications, so individuals can breathe better, feel better and remain active.
